| October 12, 1978: An unofficial memo. |
[Sun Oct 12th/ 10:43pm] |
[Private to Ministry employees. Trust me, you couldn't break this shit if you tried.] I believe it would be best if, for the moment, Ministry employees kept their squabbling -- and opinions on matters of state -- less public. There will be an official memo shortly, but for the time being, please refrain from speaking about your job or expressing your opinion on these in a way that could compromise the Ministry's reputation without first placing a protective hex on the entry keeping it away from sensational eyes.
This is not an attack on your right to speak your mind. It is simply a reminder that the Ministry is held accountable for the actions of all of its employees, and certain of you have not been utilizing these in such a manner deserving of either praise or pride.

I trust you'll all forgive me for my sporadic use of these; for obvious reasons, I've been rather busy as of late, and when I do have a spare moment, I rarely have anything to say that I'm allowed to say. It's a curious thing, being the Minister's husband. I notice the demographics have remained quite the same since the last time I picked this up. I do wonder why this trend seems so peculiar to certain sects of society. I suppose it's always the youth that proves most receptive to new ideas.
I (and my wife, surely) do hope you're all doing well, and continue to wish you all the best. These are difficult times, but the reception in the past few weeks has been overwhelmingly positive, and I can assure you that as things settle down at the Ministry of Magic, things are only going to get better.
This is not an easy war to win, but rest assured, we will win it.

I had hardly expected my following entry in these to be of such a grave nature.
Obviously, I, along with the rest of the Ministry, have been exceptionally busy this week. The unexpected atrocity committed on Monday was... I had intended to say the feelings inspired by it are impossible to explain, but I suppose all of you are aware of that.
Of course, I can say no more than the Ministry is currently allowing to be released to the public, but due to my fairly influential position in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, I can certainly do my best to answer any questions any of you have. The Ministry wants to do its best to ensure that none of its citizens feel starved for information unnecessarily.

I'm not generally one to follow trends - particularly of such a transparent nature - but I will admit to being somewhat intrigued by a fad which involves the general public making an effort to read and write. This is not, of course, a slight on the general public, but rather a remark on the decline of the importance of the written word in modern day society, and a pleasant surprise at seeing a product being marketed that may well remedy that.
I'm not quite comfortable with keeping what seems to amount to a public diary, but I suppose pushing one's limits with disclosure may well be a rewarding experience. Either that, or I'll end up burning this thing and wishing I'd never bought it.
Regardless. Hello, my name is Rodolphus Lestrange, I would imagine that many of you are familiar with me from a distance. I hope you haven't heard anything too off-putting, and endeavour to exceed your expectations by far. Now is anyone willing to reply to me so I feel slightly less foolish for writing in this thing in the first place?
